«The End of Speech». by Oleksandra Kovaleva.

The silence of the «blue screens» of the USSR regarding the disaster in Chernobyl nuclear power plant has become one of the forms of internal propaganda. Along with accusing the “capitalist West” of stirring up panic and trying to divert attention to other topics, this specific media silence was the tool to edit the objective reality. The truth as a constructor. TV — as a translator of a unifying/national idea.
